Do you want to be actively engaged in the battle for the biblical heartland of Israel, but you aren’t certain that you can keep up with the younger generation on some of our other volunteer trips? We offer volunteering in Israel for seniors! You can join us on a 10-day tour of the biblical heartland that will include the perfect amount of volunteering without the fatigue of the other programs.
How is the Heartland Experience Different From Our Other Trips?
On most of our trips, you can expect long, taxing days. The Heartland Experience is different in that it focuses more on experiencing the people and places in Judea and Samaria, and less on volunteer service. This is a one-of-a-kind Israel trip that is perfect for anyone looking to do volunteering in Israel for seniors. You can expect to leave with information on the complex dynamics of the region. On this trip, you will travel around Judea and Samaria, meeting the pioneers and biggest advocates for a strong and undivided Israel.
Don’t worry, just because you aren’t coming on our standard volunteer trip doesn’t mean that you won’t get a full Israel experience. Since this trip doesn’t involve as much field work as our other programs, you’ll get to sleep in for slightly later mornings and have amazing, home-cooked meals.
You’ll spend your days discovering some of the most important places in the Bible. Here are a few examples:
Ancient Shiloh
- Home to the tabernacle for 369 years.
- Where Hannah (Samuel’s mother) prayed for a son.
- The location where the tribe of Benjamin was reconciled with the rest of Israel.
Hebron
- The location of the Cave of Machpelah, where Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebekah, and Leah are buried.
- Where King David reigned for 7 years.
Elon Moreh
- The mountaintop from which God made a spoken covenant with Abraham.
- A viewpoint from which you’re able to see the valley that Joseph passed though in search of his brothers.
- A viewpoint overlooking the Valley of Tirzah, where Joshua led the children of Israel through as they entered the land of Canaan.
- The spot where we have our traditional sunrise cinnamon roll breakfast!
Jerusalem
- The Holy City of God.
- The home of the first and second temples.
- The place where God has placed His name forever.
- Home to the City of David and King Hezekiah’s tunnel
- And so much more…
Speaking of Jerusalem, you’ll have the opportunity to stay a few nights in a hotel in Jerusalem, something you are only able to experience on the Heartland Experience trip. You can forget sleeping on a hillside in a sleeping bag like you would on our Special Ops trip – you’ll get a bed all to yourself! You’ll be able to explore Jerusalem during the daytime and see the city shine as if it were gold under the dark night sky.
“But I Do Want to Volunteer While in Israel”
Don’t worry! If you’re visiting Israel with HaYovel, we’ll make sure that you get your hands dirty in the holy soil. Even though our emphasis will be on taking you on tours in the biblical heartland, you’ll still be able to relate to everyone who has gone on our other volunteer trips. Work varies depending on the need at the time, but a few examples are:
- Planting trees
- Planting vines
- Rebuilding ancient ruins
- And much more!
While your average day during the Heartland Experience may not be so physically intense, you’ll still have the experience and impact of making a difference. Possibly the most looked forward to part of the trip isn’t necessarily what you see and do, but rather, who you will meet.
Meet Modern Heroes while Volunteering in Israel
Much to our dismay, we aren’t able to have Jeremiah or Ezekiel tell you about their prophecies while you’re in Israel. On the bright side, we can introduce you to the next best thing! The exact schedule is largely dependant on the time of year, but you will have the opportunity to meet people such as:
- Ezra Yakhin (the oldest member of the IDF who was born and raised in Israel before it became a nation)
- Lars Enarson (The Watchman International)
- Sondra Barras (CFOIC)
- Ohad Tal (Knesset Member)
- Yossi Dagan (governor of the Shomron Regional Council)
- Nati from Elon Moreh, a sheep farmer and owner of a boutique winery
- Ari Abrmowitz and Jeremy Gimpel (owners of the Arugot Farm & Retreat Center)
- Yishai Fleisher (international spokesman for Hebron)
- Batya Erdstein (owner of a pottery store in Itamar)
- Batyah Selah (a pioneer in Samaria)
- Countless other modern day heroes
Classes About Israel are Hand-Tailored for You
We’ve all had our first (or tenth) trip to Israel. No matter if you’re on our Pruning trip or the Heartland Experience, it’s hard to put into words all that you will see and learn. Even more so, it can be hard to understand everything you will experience while there. To help alleviate this, our team has put together countless classes to help prepare you to fearlessly advocate for Israel when you go back home.
Our guest speakers will educate you on the complexities of the region, and our team will help fill in the gaps:
- How the nations of the world fit into an Israel-centered faith
- The kingdom of God being restored in Israel
- A “West Bank” maps class – this will help you understand the Oslo Accords, the legality of the settlements, and much more
- Reforesting Israel through tree planting
If you’re looking for opportunities that will enable you to do volunteering in Israel for seniors, this is the perfect fit for you. We can guarantee that if you come and join us for the Heartland Experience, you will go home with a re-ignited faith and zeal for Israel and all that is after God’s heart.
