Special Ops Mission (Summer 2024)

This trip is not for everyone. Although we have many other trips that are open to young and old, singles and families, this 6-week Israel trip is specifically designed for young people ages 18 to 35 who are ready for challenge, volunteer service, and unforgettable adventure in the land of the Bible.

If you are selected for this Special Ops trip, you can expect to:

  • Serve the land and people of Israel through agricultural volunteer projects
  • Experience and visit places in Israel where most people don’t get to go
  • Build lasting friendships with your fellow team members
  • Have daily times of prayer, worship, Bible study, and opportunities to learn Hebrew
  • Watch your faith come alive as you spend time in Israel getting closer to God

The primary goal for our special ops team during this trip is to plant new trees across Israel’s heartland. That means spending early mornings and long days in Israel’s dry, summer climate. We also may serve in other ways such as firefighting or doing night watches on farms and in Jewish communities.

Important Notes About This Trip

  • This trip is for men and women ages 18 to 35. Eligibility for this program is determined by the applicant’s age on the first day of the program.
  • Participants must be in great physical shape and be ready to work long, hard hours in a hot, dry climate.
  • All participants must be extremely flexible and okay with schedule changes at a moment’s notice.
  • There will be days when we work overtime, and the volunteer projects will not be easy.
  • We are not accepting everyone. Each applicant will go through a rigorous interview process to ensure that they are a good fit for the program.
  • Participants will be staying and working in one of the most hotly contested places in the world: the area commonly known as the “West Bank”, but what we like to call Israel’s biblical heartland.
  • All of our volunteer projects will be a critical part of fighting for the restoration of God’s Kingdom in the land of Israel. Participants will be on the front lines of the battle to restore Israel’s heartland each and every day.

Weekly Schedule

  • With agricultural work, it’s important to get up early and make it to the fields while it’s still cool and the sun isn’t too high in the sky.
  • Typically, each day will begin very early with worship and/or devotions. Breakfast will normally be eaten before we head out for the day (occasionally we’ll drive to our location for the day and eat breakfast on site).
  • Depending on where we will be working, we will take vans or a bus to nearby volunteer locations, anywhere from 20 minutes to 90 minutes away.
  • Some days, we will work until early afternoon, knocking off during the heat of the day. On other days, we will continue working through the afternoon depending on the day and the scope of the project.
  • Throughout the trip, we’ll take opportunities to explore Israel through off-the-beaten track adventures. We’ll do things and go places that we don’t with any of our other HaYovel programs.
  • During down time, in the evenings, and on Shabbat, we will have classes, discipleship, and opportunities for learning Hebrew.
  • Dinner is served in the early evening back at our base and on some evenings we will have a guest speaker come to our campus from a nearby Jewish community to share their personal story, inspiring message, or insightful teaching. We’ll also be meeting the Jewish people who we are serving on locations throughout Judea and Samaria.
  • Because we’re waking up early, most folks head to bed between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
  • This is a typical daily schedule for Sunday through Friday. On Friday night and all-day Saturday, we celebrate the Sabbath, taking the day off for rest, fellowship, and Scripture study.
